Our Resolution Heading for a Vote

Nov 21, 2015

As you all know we submitted a resolution to the Washington County Board of Supervisors Nov. 10th in support of small farmers who provide food to the county and the consumers right to acquire foods from these small farmers in response to an aggressive presentation given by the Washington County Ag advisory committee against raw milk and uninspected meats that was sponsored with the full might of 23 Big Ag lobby groups in Richmond.

This resolution will be voted on NEXT TUESDAY, Nov. 24th at 7pm during the next Board of Supervisors meeting and NOT in January like they said on the 10th.

IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT WE COME OUT TO THIS MEETING IN STRONG SUPPORT OF OUR RESOLUTION.

The Washington Counties Ag Advisory Committees coordinator Phil Blevins is looking to have the Board reject our resolution and support one they are submitting instead which neglects to address the aggression they brought to our small farmers and most specifically the legal operations of Herdshares in Virginia.

We believe it to be most important to protect the valuable relationships we have established over the years here in Washington County and to ensure that it remains the amazing farmer/consumer sanctuary it has been that has made the Abingdon Farmers Market and its local food community one of the best in the nation.

It is our privilege to be a part of it and we hope to see you all Tuesday night at the Washington County Board of Supervisors meeting!

Please like and share this message so everyone can have a chance next Tuesday to encourage the Board of Supervisors to support our local food community!
